A multiple-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Blaine sent seven people to the hospital, five with serious injuries.
The crash, involving two SUVs and a passenger car, happened about 2:30 p.m. on Radisson Road south of Tournament Players Parkway in Blaine, according to Blaine police.
The car was reportedly headed south at a high rate of speed on Radisson Road when it crossed over the center median and struck one of the northbound SUVs, which was then hit by the other SUV traveling behind it.
The car was driven by a Coon Rapids woman, who had to be airlifted from the scene. The car's other occupants included another Coon Rapids woman, a Blaine woman and two teenage males from Blaine. Some of the occupants had to be extricated from the car. All were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with serious injuries.
The SUV drivers, both women, were taken to other hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.
It was unknown whether alcohol or drugs factored in the crash, said Blaine police, who are investigating with the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and the State Patrol.
