Sesame Street and Mad Men

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to...Madison Avenue?

When I heard that Sesame Street was doing a parody of Mad Men I seriously broke out in song.

"These are two of my FAV-OR-ITE THINGS!"

My two favorite things came up in the another context recently.

Ben and I were leaving Bert & Ernie, Goodnight .

We were holding hands walking to the parking ramp. He looked at me and said. "Hey, now we can go home and watch Mad Men!"

Um, no.

I'm sure he has overheard Peter and I talk about that show (which we watch AFTER the kids are in bed) and thought that would be a brilliant idea. "It's a really good show!" he tried to convince me.

Well, now I have something that's safe for him to watch. You want to watch Mad Men honey? Go ahead we'll watch this link below. A nice squeaky clean version that talks about emotions.

I'd have to agree with some of the comments I saw on You Tube - they should have used "Glad Men" instead of "Happy Men". Mad, Sad, Glad.

But I must give kudos to the writers - this was probably the first time the word "sychophant" has been uttered in the 40 years Sesame Street has been on the air.

I remember years ago asking my vocabulary loving father what "sychophant" meant once. His answer?

"Well, a sychophant is someone who's obsequious, of course.... go look it up in the dictionary!"

Thanks dad.

And Merriam-Webster told me that they were merely two fancy words to describe those whose noses are brown.

Perla was accused of raping a student during a wine-tasting outing in June 2015. Some of the files are so heavily redacted that on many pages no words are visible. Perla is one of 113 UC employees found to have violated the system's sexual misconduct policies in rece
