Seattle will be without strong safety Kam Chancellor for the rest of the season because of a neck injury he suffered earlier this month, coach Pete Carroll said Monday.

Chancellor was hurt late in Seattle's victory over Arizona on Nov. 9 while making a tackle. Carroll also announced that defensive end Cliff Avril would be undergoing "disc-related" surgery this week after being out since October with a neck injury.

Bennett put on IR

The Patriots placed tight end Martellus Bennett and special teamer Nate Ebner on injured reserve. For Bennett it comes less than a month after the Patriots picked him up off waivers following his release from the Packers. Ebner injured his knee on a fake punt run in the first quarter of the Patriots' win over Miami on Sunday. Bennett had six catches for 53 yards in New England's wins over the Broncos and Raiders, but was inactive for Sunday's win over the Dolphins because of a hamstring and shoulder injury.

Etc.

• Lions safety Tavon Wilson will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left shoulder for the third time this season in last week's Thanksgiving loss to the Vikings.

• Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch will miss two to four weeks because of a high right ankle sprain. Trevor Siemian, who started the season but was benched a month ago in favor of Brock Osweiler, will start.

• Bills receiver Kelvin Benjamin has torn cartilage in his right knee.

• Panthers tight end Greg Olsen underwent an evaluation on his surgicially repaired foot Monday, and the foot is "OK," which seems to be what the team expected.

• Raiders receiver Michael Crabtree and Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib were suspended two games each without pay for fighting during Sunday's game.
