A school bus slid on a slick road in front of a car and was hit Monday afternoon in central Minnesota, sending two students and the smaller vehicle's driver to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

The crash involving a bus serving the Staples Motley School District happened about 4 p.m. Monday at an intersection south of Staples, according to the Todd County Sheriff's Office. The two students and the car's driver were treated at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples and later released, the Sheriff's Office said.

The bus for special-needs students was badly damaged, and the car was totaled.
