Winona State, ranked No. 11 in the AFCA, scored 33 points in a row to rally for a 42-19 NSIC victory over visiting Wayne State on Saturday.
Wayne State led 13-9 after the first quarter but didn't score again until the final minute of the game.
The Warriors (8-0, 4-0 NSIC South) took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 17-0 to open a 26-13 halftime lead. The Warriors eventually built a 42-13 lead.
Eric Birth rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns for the Warriors. Birth's first touchdown — a 4-yard run in the second quarter — extended the Warriors' lead to 22-16. Birth scored on a 54-yard late in the third quarter to put the Warriors ahead 38-13.
Winona State — off to its best start since 1998, when it was 9-0 — and MSU Mankato (8-0, 4-0 NSIC South) will play in Mankato next Saturday.
The Mavericks defeated SW Minnesota State 54-7 on Thursday.
Bemidji State 44, Northern State 17: Andrew Lackowski rushed for 184 yards and a TD to help the Beavers pull away in Aberdeen, S.D. Northern State scored early in the fourth quarter to pull within 30-17. Lackowski's 70-yard TD run with 4:29 remaining put the game out of reach. Jordan Hein passed for 197 yards and three TDs for the Beavers (6-2, 4-0 NSIC North).
Minn.-Duluth 37, Minot State 0: John Larson passed for 193 yards and two TDs and rushed for 97 yards and a TD to lead the host Bulldogs past the Beavers.
