Wolverines and Nittany Lions come away with shootout victories
• MICHIGAN 4, WISCONSIN 4 (MICHIGAN WINS SHOOTOUT 1-0): J.T. Compher scored the only goal of the shootout Saturday, giving the Wolverines the victory. Luke Kunin scored two goals for the host Badgers, including the tying score with 27 seconds remaining in the third period. Michigan fell into second place, a point behind the Gophers.
• PENN STATE 2, MICHIGAN STATE 2 (PENN STATE WINS SHOOTOUT 1-0): The Nittany Lions' Ricky DeRosa spoiled Michigan State's first shootout of the Big Ten season when he scored the only goal of the extra period, in East Lansing, Mich. Penn State got to OT when Luke Juha scored with 5:27 left in regulation.
•DENVER 4, NORTH DAKOTA 1: Dylan Gambrell scored twice and the host Pioneers swept the Fighting Hawks. North Dakota, which got a goal from Austin Poganski, fell into a first-place tie with St. Cloud State.
• MSU MANKATO 1, ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE 1: C.J. Franklin scored for the Mavericks in the second period, but host Huntsville gained a point after Matt Salhany scored with 1:03 left in regulation.
• LAKE SUPERIOR STATE 3, BEMIDJI STATE 0: The host Lakers ended a six-game losing streak. J.T. Henke scored with about seven minutes left in regulation, and the Lakers added two empty-net goals against the Beavers.
