MSU Mankato sweeps No. 1 team

• MSU MANKATO 3, MICHIGAN TECH 2: Jean-Paul Lafontaine's goal in the eight minute of the third period gave the No. 9 Mavericks (9-3, 7-1 WCHA) a 3-1 lead in Houghton, Mich., and they held on to sweep the No. 1 Huskies (10-2, 8-2).

• BOWLING GREEN 3, BEMIDJI STATE 2: The No. 18 Falcons (10-3-1, 7-1 WCHA) took a 2-0 lead in the opening period and won on Sean Walker's empty-netter with 57 seconds left. The Beavers (3-9, 2-6) scored their second goal, by Brendan Harms, 14 seconds later.

• MICHIGAN 8, PENN STATE 1: J.T. Compher had two goals and one assist and linemate Max Shuart had three assists as the Wolverines (5-6, 1-1 Big Ten) routed the visiting Nittany Lions (7-3-2, 1-1).

• DENVER 3, WISCONSIN 2: Danton Heinen had the winner in the third period to lead the host Pioneers (8-3) over the Badgers (0-8).

• NORTH DAKOTA 3, ST. CLOUD STATE 2: Trevor Olson's second goal of the game — at 5:52 of the second period — proved to be the winner as No. 2 UND (9-3-1, 4-2) edged the No. 16 Huskies (5-6-1, 2-3-1) in St. Cloud.
