MSU Mankato sweeps Ferris State

• MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO 4, FERRIS STATE 3: Jean-Paul Lafontaine and Johnny McInnis scored power-play goals early in the third period to lead the Mavericks (14-10, 12-6 WCHA) over the Bulldogs (17-5-3, 12-2-2) for the second night in a row. Ferris State, which was rated No. 2 in the USCHO.com national poll, lost 6-2 the first night in Mankato.

• MICHIGAN STATE 3, PENN STATE 2: Lee Reimer's goal at 3:41 of the third period for the Spartans broke a 2-2 in East Lansing. Michael Ferrantino and Tanner Sorenseon had the other goals for Michigan State (8-10-3, 2-2-2-2 Big Ten), which swept the Nittany Lions (4-14-1, 0-6). Jake Hildebrand of the Spartans and Eamon McAdam of Penn State both had 29 saves.

• WESTERN MICHIGAN 2, ST. CLOUD STATE 1: After a 5-5 tie the first night, defense prevailed at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Shane Berschbach's goal early in the third gave the visiting Broncos (12-8-4, 6-5-1-1 NCHC) the victory. Will Kessel also scored for Western Michigan. Kalle Kossila had the lone goal for the No. 3 Huskies (12-4-4, 7-3-2), who lost in a shootout in the first game.

• MINNESOTA DULUTH 2, DENVER 2: Alex Iafallo scored two goals in regulation, which ended in a tie, and another in the Bulldogs' 2-1 shootout victory over the visiting Pioneers. Caleb Herbert got second shootout goal for host UMD (9-9-2, 5-6-1-1 NCHC). Ty Loney and Quentin Shore scored for No. 16 Denver (12-7-5, 6-4-2-1). Aaron Crandall had 34 saves for the Bulldogs, Sam Brittain 40 for the Pioneers.

• NORTH DAKOTA 4, BEMIDJI STATE 2: No. 20 UND outshot the Beavers 33-17 and scored two goals in the first period and two in the third for the nonconference victory at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Derek Rodwell for the winner for North Dakota (13-7-3) at 1:13 of the middle period. Teammate Michael Parks scored 5-on-5 at 6:58 to make it 4-2 UND. Cory Ward and Markus Gerbrand had goals for Bemidji State (7-12-7), which tied UND 1-1 on Friday in the home-and-home series. Andrew Walsh had 29 saves for the Beavers after making 42 in the first game.
