LOS ANGELES — Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and a giant earthquake made for a winning pair at the box office as "San Andreas" claimed the top spot.
The action epic opened with $54.6 million. The weekend's other new entry, the critically maligned Cameron Crowe film "Aloha," opened in sixth place with $9.7 million.
The musical comedy "Pitch Perfect 2" continues to sing, adding another $14.8 million to its coffers for a second-place finish and a domestic take of more than $147 million since opening three weeks ago.
