Winnipeg’s Ace Walker pitched 8 2/3 strong innings and Josh Mazolla hit a two-run homer for his 17th of the season as the Goldeyes ended the Saints’ seven-game winning streak, winning 5-2 at Midway Stadium.

Winnipeg took a one-game lead over St. Paul in the American Association wild-card standings with nine games remaining.

Robert Coe went 6 1/3 innings for the Saints, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out three.

Stars FC plays to draw

The Minnesota Stars FC extended its winless streak to seven games, getting a goal from Cristiano Dias before giving up the tying goal in the second half of a 1-1 draw with FC Edmonton at National Sports Center in Blaine.

Dias scored his first goal of the season in the 17th minute. Bryan Arguez scored the tying goal for Edmonton on a 25-yard blast in the 74th minute.

The defending champion Stars have three draws and four losses since their last victory July 12.
