LOUISVILLE – Chandler Shepherd pitched 5⅔ innings, allowing one run on two hits, for the St. Paul Saints in a 2-1 victory over the Louisville Bats on Friday night in the first seven-inning game of a doubleheader. The Saints also won the second game 4-1 when three pitchers combined on a one-hitter.

JT Riddle led off the opener for the Saints with a homer on the first pitch. In the second inning, teammate Sherman Johnson tripled on the first pitch and scored on a wild pitch. The Bats got their run on Narciso Crook's homer in the sixth. Derek Law got the save, retiring four batters.

The second game was scoreless until the Saints scored four runs in the fifth inning on three singles. Rob Whalen and Danny Coulombe gave up no hits in the first 5⅓ innings before Alejo Lopez got a single in the sixth off Ian Hamilton and scored on a wild pitch.
