Fresh off a DNC trip to New Hampshire, mayor R.T. Rybak is headed south today to promote summer jobs at the White House.
City officials said in a statement this morning that Rybak will "kick off the Obama Administration's new summer-jobs initiative for low-income youth."
He will be joined by Hashim Yonis, a former intern for the city's STEP-UP summer jobs program.
Rybak spent Tuesday and Wednesday in New Hampshire working to defeat GOP presidential candidates in their first-in-the-nation primary next week. One report said Rybak is raising expectations for Mitt Romney's performance there to "undercut [his] momentum."
The mayor's trip to New Hampshire coincided with the retirement of his fire chief back in Minneapolis.
Rybak also spent last Thursday and Friday campaigning in Des Moines.
The lifelong northeast Minneapolis resident led a one-vote majority through the landmark 2023 session.
