If you want to hit the parkways in Minneapolis this weekend, you had better be on foot for a good cause. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board just sent out this advisory about this weekend's parkway closings:

Sep 24 - Walk to Defeat ALS, 10:00am-12:30pm, Lake Harriet Parkway
Sep 24 - NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walks 2011, 11:00am-3:00pm, West River Parkway between Minnehaha Falls and 33rd Street
Sep 24 - Once & Done Literacy Run, 7:00am-11:00am, East River Road between University and Franklin
Sep 24 - Great Prostate Cancer Challenge, 7:00am-11:00am, Father Hennepin Bluff, Stone Arch Bridge, West River Parkway, Boom Island, Main Street
Sep 25 - Women run the Cities, 8:00am-noon, Godfrey Road, West River Parkway, Franklin Avenue, East River Parkway

A complete list of parkway closures is available online.
