LONDON — Small stands are being built outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in central London in anticipation of a royal birth.

Major media outlets are seeking positions outside the building where Prince William and his wife Kate are expecting their first child to be born in mid-July.

The goal is to be in place to photograph and film the couple's departure from the hospital with their infant.

The hospital said in a statement Tuesday that services to its patients will not be disrupted and that the buildings will remain accessible despite the anticipated crowds.

The child will become third in line to the British throne.
