A day after being limited after banging knees with a teammate, Wolves shooting guard Brandon Roy was back at practice, taking full part in scrimmage. And, according to coach Rick Adelman, Roy looked OK.
"At first I didn't think he was, but he wanted to get out there, and he seemed to move all right. So that's a good sign. Hopefully he'll feel better {Wednesday}."
Adelman said Roy, who will start, is penciled in for about 30 to 32 minutes per game. But that comes with a twist. Adelman wants to limit minutes for Roy, but he doesn't want Roy to be sitting for long stretches as his knees might get stiff. So Adelman and his staff are still looking at how to accomplish both goals.
In other news:
-- Luke Ridnour took full part in scrimmage and appears to be past the pain associated with a herniated disc in his back. That means the Wolves should open the season with their top two point guards – Ridnour and J.J. Barea – healthy. And that's important. Adelman said he needs a lot of production out of the position while Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love are out.
--Adelman is also pondering his rotation at power forward. Though, reading between the lines to Adelman Tuesday, it appears he's set on Dante Cunningham as his starter there.
--As expected, the Wolves officially exercised third-year options on Rubio and Derrick Williams.
--Adelman was asked if he'd watch some of Tuesday's NBA games. "I might see some of them," he said. "But what's tonight? Tuesday? NCIS is on.
