Gophers tailback Rodney Smith, offensive tackle Jonah Pirsig and wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky were voted third-team All-Big Ten selections, the conference announced Wednesday.

Smith tied for first in the conference with 15 rushing touchdowns and ranked fourth in rushing yards (1,084) and all-purpose yards (1,477). But four running backs were voted ahead of him for the first and second all-conference teams: Saquon Barkley, Corey Clement, Justin Jackson and Mike Weber.

The Big Ten announced its defensive and special teams awards Tuesday. Gophers kicker Emmit Carpenter was named the conference's Kicker of the Year, and defensive tackle Steven Richardson was a third-team all-conference pick.

The Gophers honorable mention selections included: Shannon Brooks, Jonathan Celestin, Scott Ekpe, Jack Lynn, Jalen Myrick and Damarius Travis.
