ROCHESTER, Minn. - A settlement in a lawsuit filed by the parents of a boy who was bullied is ratified by the Rochester school board.

The school district will pay $87,500 to Judd and Deanna Grafe, whose son was repeatedly bullied in the locker room at Willow Creek Middle School by another boy. During one incident, the Grafes' son suffered a concussion and damage to a cochlear implant that had to be surgically replaced. The attacker was convicted of fifth-degree assault in Olmsted County juvenile court.

The settlement includes the stipulation that there's no admission of liability by any party. The Post-Bulletin ( http://tinyurl.com/8wq4jko) says the Grafes were also paid $32,000 by the insurance company of the perpetrator's parents.

The Grafes eventually enrolled their son in another school district.
