Star cornerback Richard Sherman agreed to a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, one day after being released by the rival Seattle Seahawks.
ESPN reported that Sherman's deal is worth up to $39.15 million.
Sherman played in two Super Bowls for the Seahawks, and he has 32 interceptions. He also has played an integral role in the fierce NFC West rivalry between Seattle and San Francisco, making a game-saving play during 2013 NFC Championship Game against the 49ers and the next season celebrating a Thanksgiving win in San Francisco by eating a turkey leg on the 50-yard line.
Browns deal again
• The Cleveland Browns, who struck three major deals Friday, continued the aggressive work. They agreed to trade defensive tackle Danny Shelton, a former first-round pick, to the New England Patriots for a third-round pick in 2019 and a fifth-round pick in 2018.
• Chris Gedney, an All-America tight end at Syracuse who played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, died at age 47 in Syracuse, N.Y. No cause of death was disclosed.
