The heavy rain that occurred across the northern Plains in March combined with rapid snowmelt unleashed major flooding along the Red River and most of its tributaries. Flooding has been ongoing, but no more storms have come along recently to make things even worse. The storm track has been much farther south so far this month with no substantial precipitation across the northern Plains.

The storm coming this weekend and early next week will follow a similar track moving from Texas to the Tennessee Valley. Again, the northern Plains will avoid getting another healthy dose of rain which would truly aggravate the situation.
