The junior totaled a career-high 334 yards in total offense, passing for 163 yards and a TD and running for 171 more. He broke Sandy Stephens' school record for rushing yards in a game by a quarterback (Stephens had 160 against Michigan in 1961).

Troy Stoudermire, DB, Gophers

Stoudermire has become Mr. Reliable in the secondary, prompting most passes to be thrown away from his coverage area. But he came up with a big interception Saturday, picking off a pass at the Gophers 15-yard line midway through the second quarter with Minnesota protecting a 13-3 lead.

TURNING POINT

Duane Bennett had a rough day running the ball, gaining 12 yards on seven carries. But he had a game-changing play with 10:23 left when he blocked a Miami punt, then recovered the bouncing ball and ran it in 2 yards for a score that put the Gophers up 29-16.
