I am reading the fantastic book “Prairie Fires,” by Caroline Fraser. This biography is an absolute must-read for any fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder — it is full of stories about her family and personal life, plus it describes the early pioneers and their search for land, which includes them basically settling anywhere on Indian land or wherever there was nobody else living. (Pa Ingalls himself was a “squatter” on Indian land.) Rose Wilder Lane is described as mentally unstable, and the relationship between her and Laura is engaging and sad. I highly suggest this book.
