A reader wrote to Whistleblower:

“As an unemployed IT guy, I have been applying for jobs. After receiving repeated rapid rejections for numerous positions that I am fully qualified for at [a certain large company], I decided to try an experiment.

“Starting about a month ago I removed the first 17 years of experience from my résumé, and removed the graduation dates of my university and graduate-school programs. I now appeared to be 17 years younger. (My actual age is 55.)

“The rejections stopped immediately — although I have not received any interviews or job offers — so it had not really helped, yet.”
