Rebecca Kanner of St. Paul writes:

I just finished reading Mary Kubica's "The Good Girl." When a hired kidnapper is unable to carry through with his orders, all bets are off. He brings his victim from Chicago to a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota, where they end up hiding out and falling in love. Will the criminals who hired the kidnapper show up in the middle of the night? Will the police find them? I'm rarely surprised by thrillers, but this one got me. The ending is haunting and beautiful.

Kanner is the author of "Sinners and the Sea" and "Esther." For more information, visit rebeccakanner.com.
