We've broken the back of winter and spring is pushing forward, fragile yet determined, like a crocus. In the book room, I'm open- ing galleys for May, June, July -- even August. It's not too soon to think about rocky beaches, lake cabins, sand in the pages of your book. Which makes us wonder -- what will you read when you go to the lake? Do you have a book that you reread each summer? Is summer when you turn to outdoorsy books, like Aldo Leopold or Norman Maclean? Or is it when you want something huge and engrossing -- "Moby Dick" or "War and Peace"? What do you bring to the cabin? Which titles do you revisit, summer after summer? What will you read this year on vacation? Send me an e-mail at lhertzel@startribune.com. Tell me which books, and a sentence or two telling me why. We'll publish a sampling in a few weeks, once days grow longer and the sun gets stronger.
