Bridgewater to Vikings at No. 8 and Norv Turner as offensive coordinator?

The hiring of Mike Zimmer is an important step in the Vikings' offseason -- and in the future of GM Rick Spielman. The next steps include rounding out the coaching staff and drafting a QB, and both of those processes could be just as important as the hiring of Zimmer.

We won't know about the QB for several months, but Mel Kiper's mock draft has the Vikings taking Teddy Bridgewater with the No. 8 pick. If the Louisville QB was available that low -- some have projected him as the first overall pick, but Kiper has Johnny Manziel in that spot right now -- it would be a coup for the Vikings even though we prefer Manziel.

As for Zimmer's staff, the biggest hire presumably will be the offensive coordinator since Zimmer is a defensive guy and a new QB will need to be groomed. To that end, the Vikings have reportedly asked for permission to interview Norv Turner.

Say what you want about Turner as a head coach; he has had a lot of success running offenses.
