For a rapper considered to be one of the best ever, you'd think Rakim could get some better promotion. Word is the legendary MC will perform at Bar-Fly tonight. His First Ave show in 2007 with Brother Ali and Ghostface Killah received the typical amount of hype you'd expect for a rapper of his stature. This one -- not so much. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go.
Rakim has apparently hit the road to promote the Nov. 17 release of his long-awaited, much-delayed album, "The Seventh Seal." (This time it's really coming; there's even a countdown on his website.)
Doors open at 9 p.m., Bar-Fly, 711 Hennepin Av., Mpls. 612-333-6100. Tickets are $25.
