Temperatures wandering near freezing could make a difference

In the metro area, rain could fall heavily through the morning, with a quarter inch possible between 6 a.m. and noon, before possibly turning to snow Saturday night. Two to 3 inches of snow could fall from northern Anoka County through St. Cloud, Alexandria, Brainerd and Duluth.
A flow of warm air from the south was expected to keep high temperatures slightly above freezing across the region while dropping to freezing or below Saturday night. Some cooling is expected across the metro area Sunday afternoon, with snow a possibility.
A winter weather advisory posted Friday by the National Weather Service extended as far north as Bemidji and Duluth. The mix of precipitation also promises a mix of driving conditions, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation urged motorists Friday to adjust their driving to conditions.
Snow depth at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport dropped from 9 inches Monday to 6 inches on Friday.
