Twin Cities company one of just two U.S. dance troupes to perform as part of the 'Maximum India' festival in Washington, D.C.

Twin Cites-based Ragamala Dance performed Wednesday night (March 9) at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The sold-out show include a solo by the Aparna Ramaswamy (pictured above) as well as an excerpt from a new group piece titled "Yathra" ("Journey") that will be premiered in its entirety at the O'Shaughnessy in St. Paul March 25-27. It featured new music composed and performed live by Shubhendra Rao (sitar) and Saskia Rao (Indian cello).

Ragamala was one of just two U.S. dance companies to perform in a 3-week "Maximum India" festival that includes more than 500 artists in film, music, theater and dance.
