Hansen helped the Wildcats' girls' cross-country team to a second-place place finish in the Class 2A state meet a year ago at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

She finished 31st with a time of 14 minutes, 53.4 seconds over the 4,000-meter course. Hansen will enter her senior season as one of the team captains. Here is a closer look at Hansen, who also competes in track and basketball for her school:

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "Bridesmaids."

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Outgoing, hardworking, dedicated.

What are your three favorite apps? Vine, Instagram, Pinterest.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? I like to follow Danielle Anderson on Twitter the most because she is so inspiring. (Anderson, who graduated in the spring, was Eagan's top runner last year.)

At my first varsity practice, I felt … worried that I wasn't going to be able to keep up with the upperclassmen.

What are you working on most this summer? I'm working to maintain my speed and strength from the prior season.

What are your goals for the upcoming season as a captain? Be a positive role model for my team.

What is your favorite meal before a meet? Pasta and pretzels.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? Eliminate the feeling of disappointing one of my coaches if there is a conflict between two sports.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? A lot of late nights.

In 10 years, I hope I've … graduated from college and have a stable job in the medical field.
