Westrich is hoping to conclude his prep wrestling career with a state championship at 160 pounds in the Class 3A individual state tournament. He was the state tournament runner-up a year ago in the same weight class. Here is a closer look at Westrich:

A Determined, goofy, and hard-working.

Q How did you get started in wrestling?

A My brother came home with a flyer for it in grade school.

A Like I needed to prove myself to everyone.

Q What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A Making it to finals of the state tournament for the first time. (Westrich lost to Cody Skog of Cambridge-Isanti 13-4.)

Q Name one sport you wish you could participate in that you don't.

A Snowboarding. You can't go snowboarding during wrestling. You might get hurt.

Q Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why?

A The Minnesota Vikings. They may not be the best, but I have watched them for as long as I can remember.

Q In 10 years, you hope you're …

A A coach for any age wrestling, and still competing on the side.

Q Do you have a secret talent — and if so, what is it?

A I like to draw and paint.

Q What is the best sports advice you have ever received?

A Work until you feel like giving up, then keep working harder.
