Quick Q&A: Kristen Cash, Mounds View girls' golf

April 3, 2016 at 2:06AM

Cash tied for 10th in the Class 3A girls' golf state tournament last season. She placed 28th as a sophomore in 2014, when the Mustangs placed eighth as a team. Cash also plays hockey for Mounds View.

Q: As a senior, what are your team and individual goals this season?

A: To place better at state than I did last year and [as a team] do well in conference.

Q: What have your two prior experiences at the state tournament been like?

A: I liked it better as a team because at the end of the round, you have some people to come back to and share your experiences with. But as an individual, it was more competitive for me since I didn't have to really worry about other people's scores. I can just worry about what I'm doing.

Q: How do you feel about the team this season?

A: We're going to be in the middle [in terms of experience]. We have two seniors and a junior and three sophomores that are going to come back, hopefully.

Q: Favorite golf memory so far?

A: At sections last year, in the first round at Northfork, I shot a 74 and that's the best I've shot.

Q: When did you start to play golf?

A: Ever since I was a little kid, my dad always took me to the driving range. I just got a little set of clubs and started hitting around.

Q: Plans after graduation?

A: I'm going to go to Gustavus and play hockey and golf.
