Herber was the Panthers’ tough-luck losing pitcher in their 2-0 setback to Chanhassen in the Class 3A baseball tournament championship game at Target Field. Here is a closer look at Herber, who will continue his baseball career at Winona State University:

Q: What is the best movie you’ve seen in the last year?

A: “22 Jump Street.”

Q: Three songs you never skip on your iPod are …

A: … “Boys Of The Summer” by Mike Stud; “Airforce Ones” by Nelly, and Riot Maker by “Tech N9ne.”

Q: Three words your friends and teammates would use to describe you are …

A: … competitive, funny and loud (at times).

Q: At your first varsity practice, you felt …

A: … nervous but ready.

Q: You know you have an edge on an opponent when …

A: ... they show emotion and their body language changes.

Q: Describe your feeling as you took to the mound before throwing your first pitch at Target Field?

A: It was probably the most nervous I’ve ever been. After a while I relaxed, played my game and soaked it all in. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience — pretty amazing.

Q: What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?

A: Pitching against Eden Prairie this year when we were ranked No. 1 and it was ranked No. 2. We won 6-5.

Q: Name one sport that you wish you could play, and why?

A: Hockey. One of my favorites to watch. It’s fast moving.

Q: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be?

A: More games in the baseball season.

Q: In 10 years, you hope you have …

A: … a successful career that I enjoy and possibly starting a family. Also, definitely still be involved in baseball.
