Status: Flying solo. "My original date moved to North Carolina and my backup date went to Mississippi to take care of her grandmother."

Next year: Attending North Carolina Central University with a major in political science and a minor in economics.

Prom king and queen Donovan Jamal Martin and Chelsea Kelly, seniors

Brianna Alexander, senior, North High School

Her outfit: Dress ($378) from Pinky Punky in Little Rock, Ark.

Her extracurriculars: Dance (choreographer) and Waters of Life Outreach Ministry.

Relationship status: She's known boyfriend/prom escort Mike Mason, a senior from North High School, for four years.

Post-prom destination: Red Lobster, where Alexander planned to eat crab legs, baked potato and fried shrimp.

Next year: She's going to the University of Minnesota and he's going to Augsburg to study political science.

Bri Salhus, sophomore, and Jasper Kange, senior

Her outfit: Her grandmother made her dress. Shoes from Macy's.

His outfit: Men's Wearhouse (rental).

Their flowers: Bachman's. "I didn't want to have too much yellow. My dress has gold in it and white matches everything," Salhus said.

Her extracurriculars: Student council, track, and dance (captain).

His extracurriculars: Football and basketball.

Relationship status: He's one of her older brother's best friends.

Kirk Baglien, college freshman at St. Thomas, and Courtney McMoore, senior

His extracurriculars: Football and baseball.

Her extracurriculars: Soccer (captain) and track (captain).

Status: Dating for 15 months.

How they met: They both lifted weights in Washburn's gym.

Next year: She'll be going to Hamline University.

Jade Huynh, senior

Her hair: It took six hours to dye it from black to blond the day before prom (senior skip day) and an hour to get extensions. "I like doing outrageous things," she said.

Her extracurriculars: Art club and Asian auditorium.

Status: Best friends with her prom escort, Phil McDonald.

How she asked him to prom: "I was going to go with a date from a different school, but [at the lunch table], I said we're seniors, let's go. He's not very school-spirited sometimes."

Next year: She's going to the University of Minnesota's College of Design.

Christiaan Hille, senior and Carah Claflin, senior from Edina High School

Her outfit: BCBG dress from Nordstrom. Alfani shoes from Macy's.

Her extracurriculars: Theater and church choir.

His extracurriculars: Football, rugby and church choir.

Status: Best friends for six years. They met at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, where they're both in choir.

Next year: He's going to the University of Minnesota in Duluth and she's going to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, to be a voice major (opera).

Next weekend: She's going to her school's prom (with someone from her school). She's wearing a multicolored Favia dress.

Her favorite prom movie: "Ten Things I Hate About You."
