Project Skyway reopened its application process on Monday, giving the tech accelerator more time to meet promising online businesses for its three-month program.

Now, applicants must apply before Feb. 14 for Project Skyway's second cycle, which begins on March 1. Originally, Project Skyway had closed the application process on Dec. 15 and planned to start its second cycle in February.

"We want to be as thoughtful as possible that the companies are a great fit for our program and our region," said co-founder Casey Allen. Allen said for its second cycle, Project Skyway has a "much more narrow focus."

Allen said the program is looking for companies that are around the launch phase and in an industry that has a proven track record of being funded in the area.

Project Skyway's program gives perks such as funding, work space as well as access to mentors and developers, in exchange for 9 percent equity.

Organizers declined to say how many applications they received, but said applicants have come from four countries and five states.
