Glitzy guests for state dinner
WASHINGTON – A powerhouse lineup of Hollywood, diplomacy and business greats made the guest list for President Obama’s dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.
They included “Empire” creator Lee Daniels, Disney CEO Bob Iger, diplomat Henry Kissinger, ballerina Misty Copeland, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.
The decor for the East Room included a 16-foot silk scroll of two roses that the White House said symbolized “a complete meeting of the minds.”
The menu included Colorado lamb and Maine lobster and entertainment from singer Ne-Yo.
Guest chef Anita Lo, owner of Annisa in New York and a past “Top Chef” competitor, is a first-generation Chinese-American from Birmingham, Mich.
