Popping PCP isn't the only way to catch a buzz off that trio of letters. In the case of Portland Cello Project, the high stems from a hipster-cool collection of musicians putting classical spins on just about every genre. PCP's benevolent mission? "To bring the cello to places you wouldn't normally hear." Formed in 2007, the group has collaborated with everyone from Peter Yarrow to Corin Tucker to Trampled by Turtles, taking on everything from Kanye West to Pantera to Bach. On its current tour, the Kill Rock Stars-signed ensemble is honoring the work of the late Elliott Smith, as heard on its recent tribute album, "e.s." Jay Boller
