Police searching for man who assaulted woman stopping to help driver on I-35 near Esko

ESKO, Minn. — The Carlton County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a woman when she stopped to help him on the side of a highway.

According to the sheriff's office, the woman pulled over on Interstate 35 near Esko late Tuesday night to assist the driver of a vehicle stopped on the shoulder. The victim told police she was physically and sexually assaulted by the man.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, with a medium build, short beard and short brown hair. His vehicle is described as a pickup truck with black matte paint.

Authorities are urging anyone who was traveling on the highway in the Esko area between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday or has any information regarding the attack to call the sheriff's office.
