Eden Prairie police arrested a 29-year-old woman in connection with a drug-related death that they say could be a homicide, a police spokeswoman said Thursday.

About 11 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a call for medical assistance in the 15600 block of N. Hillcrest Court, police spokeswoman Katie Beal said.

A 42-year-old man was found unconscious, and authorities were told he had overdosed on drugs, Beal said.

The man died later at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

At 7:13 a.m. Thursday, the woman was booked into the Hennepin County jail on suspicion of third-degree murder.

Asked whether the woman was thought to have administered the drugs, Beal said: "That's all part of the investigation. But they had probable cause to believe she was somehow involved."

Police did not release information about the relationship between the suspect and victim.

According to jail records, the woman lived on the same block where the incident occurred. She had pleaded guilty in recent years to speeding and careless driving, and has been awaiting court proceedings for a misdemeanor theft charge, court records show.
