All aboard, train enthusiasts, for a ride on the Polar Express, with a stop at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum today and next weekend in Duluth. The museum highlights the region's railroad history with trains, photographs, videos and exhibits. Departures are from the Fitger Brewery between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. today and next Sunday, with additional departures at 7:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday (1-218-722-1273 or 1-888-348-4377).

Red River over time Moorhead, Minn.

Experience the evolution of western Minnesota's Red River region through the Red River Valley exhibit on permanent display at the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center in Moorhead. At the center of the 4,000-square-foot exhibit is a 48-foot model of the Red River and its tributaries. The exhibit also includes items that were traded between American Indians and European visitors, photographs and other artifacts. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and college students, $4 for ages 5 to 17, free for members and ages 4 and under (1-218-299-5511).

In the company of elves Grand Forks, N.D.

Tour Santa Village today and Friday through next Sunday in Grand Forks to experience horse-drawn sleigh rides, games, book readings with Mrs. Claus or Santa's elves, music and a display of more than two dozen trees decorated in different themes. Hours are 1 to 8 p.m. (sleigh rides, Santa and Mrs. Claus are available 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday only). Admission is by nonperishable food item or money donation (1-701-746-2750).
