The Denny Hecker Automotive Group completed the sale of its Volkswagen and Hyundai dealerships in Inver Grove Heights to the Pohlad Group's Twin Cities Automotive, officials said Thursday.

Both dealerships will reopen Monday, said Hecker President Barbara Jerich, who declined to disclose the sale price.

With the purchase, the Pohlads doubled their fledgling auto empire, which now consists of BMW and Chrysler Jeep stores bought last spring.

For now, Jerich said, the Pohlad company has taken possession of inventory at both locations and leased the real estate. It also hired back workers from both dealerships, which had been shut in December, shortly after Hecker sued Chrysler for freezing his credit lines.

Chrysler previously financed sales of Hyundais and Volkswagens in addition to Chryslers. But that deal fell apart and Chrysler is suing Hecker for $550 million.

In December, Hecker shut the Inver Grove dealerships plus six other Minnesota locations and sold one in California. Prior to that, Hecker had 21 dealerships in two states.
