Plants on parade

The Minnesota State Horticultural Society will stage a Plant Fashion Show of new perennial, annual and shrub introductions at a fundraiser luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Elmo Inn, 3712 Layton Av. N., Lake Elmo. KARE-TV's Belinda Jensen and Bobby Jensen will host the event. Tickets are $40 and include lunch and prizes. To register, call 651-643-3601. Garden solidarity

"Nourishing Neighborhoods, Connecting Communities" is the theme of the Community Garden Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Neighborhood House, 179 Robie St., St. Paul. Events include 12 workshops on topics such as composting, raising chickens, kids in the garden, food swaps, creative ways to preserve the harvest and exhibits by local organizations. The fair is free but donations are encouraged. Register at www.gardening matters.org.

Garden ready Are you ready to try something new in the garden? The Westonka Horticulture Day will explore "Gardening From the Ground Up" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Westonka High School, 5905 E. Sunnyfield Road, Mound. The event includes workshops on landscaping, growing veggies, ornamental grasses, shade gardens and other topics. Master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. The Resource Fair is free.
