A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday morning while running across Interstate 94, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
Kyle W. Day, 28, of Minneapolis, was running across the freeway around 3:08 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on I-94 at 7th Street hit him. Day died about an hour later at Hennepin County Medical Center as a result of multiple blunt-force injuries, according to a report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
Mark Smith, 40, of Marshall, Minn., was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer, which rolled after striking Day. Smith was unharmed, but his passenger, Amelia Torres-Guevara, 45, of St. Paul, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
