Two paving projects will impact traffic on metro area freeways this weekend.

In Bloomington, eastbound 494 from Cedar Avenue (Hwy. 77) and 24th Avenue will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Sunday. The posted detour will take motorists north on Cedar to Hwy. 62, then east on 62 and south on Hwy. 5.

The project is weather dependent, so work might be cancelled if the weather sours. The forecast calls for dry, but chilly, conditions so plan on finding your way around the closure.

In the north metro, eastbound 694 will be reduced to a single lane between 35W and Hwy. 10 in Arden Hills. Crews will be paving the freeway in the area of Old Hwy. 10, also known as Ramsey County Road 76. The work will run from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.

Plan on delays in the area, so allow extra time to reach your destination if travels take you in this area.

Enough on closures. Here is something that is opening: The Lowry Avenue Bridge in north and northeast Minneapolis. Look for the barricades to come down early evening Saturday, after a grand opening from 10:30 to 1 p.m.
