Paul Douglas: Quick dose of sun Tuesday, but muggy for Father's Day

By DJ Kayser, filling in for Douglas:

We have seen quite a warm stretch of weather since our cold April. While the month of May was the second warmest in the Twin Cities and fifth warmest statewide, we are starting the first month of meteorological summer on a warm note as well. We have recorded our 30th warmest start to June in Twin Cities history through the first 10 days of the month, with an average temperature of 69.1 degrees. That's not completely due to our highs, as four days this month have featured highs that are below average. Instead, every single low has been above average — by as much as 10 degrees.

Today will be less humid and mainly sunny across the state with highs climbing into the 70s and low 80s in most spots. Unfortunately, the weather looks unsettled as we head toward the second half of the week and the weekend, with at least scattered chances of storms. Warmer and sticky weather also looks likely to return to the region as we head into Father's Day weekend, with highs climbing to around 90 and dew points approaching 70.
