Part of Avenue of Sphinxes to reopen

What's new -- or newly reopening -- in 2012? Here are a few of the many. In mid-March, Egypt's minister of state for antiquities will partially reopen the Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor, which had been closed for renovations. The department will unveil a 500-foot stretch of the 1.7-mile avenue, lined with hundreds of the mythical creatures. The Greater Cleveland Aquarium debuts Jan. 21, with 40-plus tanks swimming with sand tiger sharks, native brook trout, piranhas and more. And the Mob Museum, alias the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, makes its mark in Las Vegas on Feb. 14.WASHINGTON POST

American Airlines warns of e-mail scam If you get a suspicious e-mail that appears to be from American Airlines, it could be part of a scam by hackers to pilfer personal information. To warn customers, American Airlines has posted several examples of the phony e-mails on its website. The airline warns anyone who gets such e-mails not to click on any links or open attachments, and asks recipients to forward the e-mails to webmaster@aa.com.

Olympics tickets might not be out of reach You might be able to snag tickets to the London Summer Olympics by creating an account at www.cosport.com, the official ticket sales agent for the United Staes. There you can see individual tickets that just went on sale, such as the 10-meter platform diving semi-final for $481, archery for $142 and badminton preliminaries for $163.
