An administrative law judge has ruled against an Osseo school board candidate who argued that a citizens group was improperly endorsing board candidates.

Kevin Rebman had charged that the District 279 United citizens group shouldn't endorse candidates because district voters could confuse the group with the district itself. School districts aren't allowed to endorse school board candidates. District 279 United has endorsed candidates Dean Henke, Jennifer DeJournett and Teresa Lunt for the district's three open board seats. Ten candidates are running for election on Tuesday.

In his decision, Judge Eric Lipman wrote that there was no evidence that District 279 United knowingly tried to pass itself off as an official school district organization.

District 279 United co-chair Tracy Krasnoff said the group never implied it was representing the Osseo district. "The use was purely to unite parents, not to make any indication that we are representing the district," Krasnoff said.
