It's a beautiful night on Nicollet Island, where DeLaSalle will christen its new home field tonight against Brooklyn Center. (Reporter's dream: wireless internet in the press box.)

The PA system is playing CDs right now but I hear an electric guitar warming up in the stands, so the Islander band is soon to cut loose.

The place is packed, the teams are warming up, and I'm thrilled to be here.

The Gophers played with more urgency, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from another conference sweep, and they lost LJ Mooney to injury in the process.
