Commuters who use I-94 in the east metro, here is your six-month warning about a major construction project that will bring lane closures and delays for two years starting in the spring.

MnDOT will resurface the eastbound and westbound lanes between Mounds Blvd. in St. Paul and Century Avenue in Maplewood during the 2016 and 2017 construction seasons. The agency also will build a new auxiliary lane and extend the current auxiliary lane along eastbound I-94 between E. 7th Street and Mounds Blvd.

Two emergency pull-off sites along I-94 between E. 7th and Mounds Blvd. will be built as will a noise wall between Conway Street and the pedestrian bridge at Maple Street.

Bridges along the stretch also will be repaired.

The impact to approximately 127,000 drivers who use the stretch each day and business owners in the area will be outlined during an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Sun Ray Public Library, 2105 Wilson Avenue, St. Paul.
