Opening: Producer Kirby Bennett has gathered 26 actors to tackle nearly 60 roles in this Pulitzer Prize winner from 1929. With that many actors, there should be little surprise that this is a rarely produced work. Written by Elmer Rice, "Street Scene" unspools the intertwined lives of neighbors in a New York City tenement. The play was make into a film in 1931 and later an opera with music by Kurt Weill and Langston Hughes. Craig Johnson directs this production, which features Ellen Apel, Shelby Flannery, Eric Knutson, John Middleton, Anna Sundberg, Logan Verdoorn and Amanda Whisner.
