One person was killed in an early morning house fire Saturday in Lakeland.
Firefighters responded to the house fire about 2 a.m. on the 1200 block of Rivercrest Road and found one person dead inside the house, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday. The victim’s identity won’t be released until family are notified.
It’s unknown if anyone else was in the home at the time. The cause of the fire is also unknown, and the incident remains under investigation by the state fire marshal.
